What are the implications of shipping to Italy?2023-05-23T07:47:21+01:00

Please read the important information below.

This will effect the import of an LT230, Borg Warner, Transfer box parts, diffs, diff centres and halfshafts. This list is not exhaustive and may also affect other parts. Please do read this as additional charges may be charged on import. We are finding that it does not affect everyone on import but unfortunately charges are being charged on some occasions.

Note this is completely beyond our control.

Radiometric Controls for Metal Goods Imported into Italy

Please read the information below. We are now finding that several of our customers are having to pay the charges detailed below on importing our goods. Regrettably many of our products do fall in to this commodity codes shown in the link below so please can you read the following information and reply to confirm if you would like to cancel or continue with your order.

What is radiometric monitoring?

Radiometric monitoring is the inspection of scrap, semi-finished, and all other metal materials in order to detect radioactive anomalies.

Radioactive measurements are taken near the external walls of a container with specific and very sensitive instruments, which are equipped with a probe that has a sodium iodide scintillator, to detect even the tiniest radioactive anomalies.

On 1 July 2022, new radiometric surveillance regulations have been introduced for the import of metallic materials (semi-finished or finished products) into Italy, based on the EU Council Directive 2013/59/ EURATOM laying down basic safety standards for protection against dangers arising from exposure to ionizing radiation.

Certain metallic products are subject to specialized checks that must be conducted by an authorized external body. A certificate of inspection must be provided before the import customs declaration can be issued. The certificate of the radiometric controls can be issued in a non-EU country provided that a mutualrecognition with this country is in place. Currently the mutual recognition agreement is only held with Switzerland.

What does it mean for our Customers?

This Regulatory change affects importers of the listed finished metal products, semi-finished metal products and/ or scrap and other waste metal materials into Italy. Each shipment must be inspected.

Upon arrival of the shipment the carrier will contact the receiver of the shipment indicating a third-party supplier who can provide radiometric inspection and issue the relevant certificate. If the receiver accepts the suggested solution, they will be contacted by the supplier to proceed with payment and inspection; should the receiver refuse, the shipment will be returned to us. The cost of the shipment and return will not be refunded. The radiometric inspections can take place in all various locations in Italy. The fee for the inspection is EUR 170.00 per shipment and is payable by the importer directly to the inspecting company. Ashcrofts or the carrier is not involved in the contracting or payment collection. In order to optimize costs related to radiometric inspection, we recommend that customers import these commodity categories in one single shipment.

What are the Shipping Costs?2019-06-25T12:45:13+01:00

Shipping costs are generated once you have either logged or registered on site.  Once the delivery address is known the shipping prices will be displayed.

How long does delivery take2024-08-06T08:15:01+01:00

We aim to ship unit orders in around one week but sometimes this may be a little longer.  A note on our home page will advise of delays and once your order is placed we will advise the due date for the order.  Many part orders can be dispatched within 1-2 days of ordering for overnight delivery within the UK.

Can you collect my exchange unit?2019-06-25T12:44:57+01:00

I am afraid we are only able to collect exchange units within mainland UK (excl. Northern Ireland) and only when this has been pre-arranged at time of purchase.

How do I arrange the return of my exchange unit in the UK?2023-07-27T14:28:10+01:00

Please note that we do not collect on the same day as delivery.  You should contact us by phone or email to advise us once the unit is ready, drained of oil and back in the original packing tub/crate and we will then arrange collection.   The carrier will email you labels that will need to be printed and put on the goods.  You should not release goods if the driver is not able to leave a receipt with consignment note details.

Please note that this service is booked with Fedex/TNT  but is not a guaranteed service, especially more remote areas. We cannot be held responsible if the collection does fail, we can only apologise for the inconvenience caused. We will try to arrange again but in come circumstances it may be necessary for us to cancel the collection and ask you to return the goods yourself.

My country is not appearing on the dropdown list of Countries. Why is this?2024-09-04T12:38:29+01:00

Due to shipping restrictions for certain areas or continued shipping issues we may no longer be able to ship to your Country.  You can still purchase goods and arrange your own collection.   To discuss this in more detail please go to the ‘Contact’ page and email the relevant department.
