Description

Kit to Convert the V8 Defender to Automatic Transmission

For this conversion we use the 4HP22 autobox. The lengths of the auto and the manual box are the same so the existing transfer case can go straight on the auto with no modifications.

The kit is comprised of the following products:-

Autobox, 4HP22, rebuilt, outright with torque converter

Crank assy, to include, starter ring, flexplate, buttress ring, boss

Oil cooler & 2x pipes

Diff lock linkage £50

Swan Neck, Hi-Lo mounting bracket, FRC8558. Please click here for product details

We can also build your unit with our ZF Hi Cap Sump. If you would like this please select in the drop down menu.

The Defender Auto Plaque is not included the kit but is a nice addition. If you would like this please select from the dropdown menu.

 

Sump Options

1.Normal 300 TDi sump to accept the dipstick and tube, note we are not able to supply the dipstick and tube, you will have to source these. See photo below:

2. We can fit a modified sump like the Disco II type which needs no dipstick and tube. See photo below:

Please check you don’t have a cross member where we are pointing below:

Please note that we are currently unable to supply the Left Hand Mount required. You will need to source this from a Disco 1V8 or RR Classic V8 vehicle.

You will need to connect the kickdown cable to the plenum chamber or similar

Note that we are able to offer Heavy duty versions for those with more powerful engines – please email for more details if this is of interest.
