Kit to Convert the V8 Defender to Automatic Transmission

For this conversion we use the 4HP22 autobox. The lengths of the auto and the manual box are the same so the existing transfer case can go straight on the auto with no modifications.

The kit is comprised of the following products:-

Autobox, 4HP22, rebuilt, outright with torque converter, £1,500

Crank assy, to include, starter ring, flexplate, buttress ring, boss, £170

Oil cooler & pipes, to include, cooler, 2 x pipes, £245 Note this is our oil cooler kit Type 1. See here for details of this kit. For an additional £35 you could change to our oil cooler kit Type 2. See here for this type

Please note that we will supply the auto box with a non dip sump as we are unable to source the dipstick filler and tube. If you do not want us to do this as you are able to source your own dipstick filler and tube please advise us.

The Defender Auto Plaque is not included the kit but is a nice addition. If you would like this please select from the dropdown menu.

Please note that we are currently unable to supply the Left Hand Mount required. You will need to source this from a Disco 1V8 or RR Classic V8 vehicle.

You will need to connect the kickdown cable to the plenum chamber or similar
